MLA Presentation

MLA (Modern Language Association) is the most commonly used form of citation formation in ELA. This was vehemently emphasized that the usage of the MLA format must be used correctly or else your essay will lose points based on how structured the punctuation is, the alphabetical order of sources, and most importantly, what type of sources you have.

The CUNY databases require you to log in based on the college you are affiliated with. City College also has this requirement. While doing your research, it is your responsibility to find sources that you must stick with. This is my huge advice to you, future scholars. (Don’t forget it, I promise you that researching is more complex than simple.)

To give you all an understanding of what I mean, here is a collaborative slideshow I did with my classmates while doing the Phase 3 RCA Essay. (I was writing until my hand fell asleep!)

Journals

Journaling is about trying to express your thoughts onto a piece of paper. To be clear, it can be any topic of your choice. For an English class, even if there is the choice to free-write, the prompts assigned were a catch, to say the least.

Based on a new agenda we had from the class calendar for each week, most of these were either a rhetorical analysis about what we liked or what we’ve learned previously, or an open-to-write entry. It was a way to encourage us to write traditionally because we rely too much on technology to perfect our unique writing styles on paper, and how easy it is to modify everything without the paper being ripped because of excessive erasure.
